Once as space has been identified as confined and
that it has or will have a hazardous atmosphere you
will need to develop a hazard analysis and a rescue plan. That’s where we come in. Our confined space entry and rescue team can tailor entry permits for all types of work, monitor the workers in the space and it’s atmosphere, as well as creating and executing rescue plans.
At the Darran Green group of companies we have proven track record of hundreds of confined space entries from Kingston to Toronto, with no lost time injuries. We are continually upgrading our staff and
equipment to meet the demands of our clients, all levels of government, our employees and their families.
Without a proper written program, plan and procedures in place, and without proper training, workers in a confined space, and those who attempt a rescue in an emergency, could quickly be overcome by atmospheric conditions, resulting in injury or death.
If you are in any doubt regarding your compliance with the regulations or have any questions please contact us.
The confined space regulations all use the same definition:
A confined space is a fully or partially Enclosed space that:
- Is not designed or constructed for continuous Human occupancy
- In which atmospheric hazards may occur because of its construction, location or contents or because of work that is done in it.
In order for the space to be classified as confined both A & B must apply and thereby trigger the new regulations.
What is a hazardous atmosphere?
A hazardous atmosphere is defined by the following
- That there is or may be an accumulation of flammable, Combustible or explosive agents present
- That the oxygen content is less than 19.5% or more than 23%.
- That the accumulation of atmospheric contaminates that could result in acute health effects that pose an i mmediate threat to life or interfere with a persons ability to escape unaided from the confined space.
